A man has been arrested in the Gosforth area of Newcastle in connection with the road traffic collision on Blackburn Road in Sheffield on Saturday, in which two teenagers died.

The 22-year-old man was arrested on Monday evening on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been bailed until March while police continue to investigate.

Joshua Fothergill, from Sheffield, and Liam Parkin, from Rotherham, both aged 19, died at the scene of the crash on Blackburn Road, Wincobank, at 1am on Saturday.

They had been travelling in separate cars which were involved in a collision near the Railway pub.

Three other men were injured and taken to hospital. Two of the men have since been discharged.
