Police and council chiefs in South Yorkshire will be on hand to answer questions about laws surrounding alcohol during a Twitter event next week.
They will answer queries and provide information about the agencies available to help people who have alcohol problems.
The Twitter session will run from 3pm to 4pm on Monday and will involve police officers and staff from Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster councils.
Superintendent Shaun Morley, South Yorkshire Police’s lead officer on alcohol issues, said: “Across the county we see extra pressure on public services over the holiday period, often due to incidents involving alcohol.
“We know that the laws surrounding alcohol can be misinterpreted and we want to quash any myths that the public may have heard and explain the powers available to combat alcohol abuse.
“Using Twitter we hope we’ll also be able to signpost people on the health aspects of alcohol and what groups there are available to anyone affected by alcohol.”
The free online session will run on the force’s district accounts @SYPBarnsley @SYPDoncaster @SYPRotherham and @SYPSheffield using #tweetsafe
