City march to Reclaim the Night

A Reclaim the Night march in Sheffield on November 21 will highlight ‘the continuing threat to women’.

The marches began in the 1970s, during the Yorkshire Ripper murders, when police warnings to women not to go out at night were seen as a restriction of freedom. “Today, people are still subject to harassment and oppression because of their gender identity or expression,” said Sheffield University Students’ Union women’s officer Miriam Miller.

The march leaves the Cathedral at 7.15pm.
