SHEFFIELD MP David Blunkett has described the murder of a former aide as a ‘terrible tragedy’.
Angela Hoyt, aged 34, who worked for the Labour politician when he was Home Secretary, was found strangled in her home in Hatfield, Hertfordshire.
The body of her ex-boyfriend Martin Collett, who also used to work for Mr Blunkett, was found a short distance from Angela’s home.
Mr Collett, 35, who was being hunted by police on suspicion of Ms Hoyt’s murder, had thrown himself in front of a train.
Brightside and Hillsborough MP Mr Blunkett said: “It’s a terrible tragedy for Angela and her family.”
He did not wish to comment about Mr Collett.
Miss Hoyt met Mr Collett when they worked at the Home Office, where he was a briefing manager for Mr Blunkett.
Miss Hoyt was a junior member of the media office who also took Mr Blunkett’s guide dog for walks.
