THE HEARTBROKEN parents of a man who died after he suffered burns at a party in South Yorkshire have paid tribute to a ‘caring and lovely’ young man.
Steven Simpson, aged 18, died after suffering ‘significant burns’ at a party on Pleasant View, Cudworth, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
A statement issued by his family today, said: “Steven had just turned 18 and was just starting out in life.
“Kevin and Jackie, Steven’s father and stepmother and Bernadette his mother can not describe the loss they all feel at this time.
“Steven was a very caring and lovely young man and will be missed by everyone that knows him.”
Following the attack Steven was rushed to several hospitals for emergency and specialist treatment but he died on Sunday evening.
Six people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Saturday; three men, aged between 19-years-old and 39-years-old and three teenagers aged between 16-years-old and 17-years-old, all from Barnsley.
The 16-year-old female was released due to insufficient evidence and the remaining five people were bailed.
