Firefighters tackle series of arson attacks across South Yorkshire

A large haystack was set alight in an arson attack in Rotherham.

The fire on Lodge Lane, Thorpe Hesley, was discovered at 6.20pm on Thursday.

Firefighters were called out to extinguish the flames.

On the same night they also dealt with two weelie bins found burning on Kimberworth Park Road, Kimberworth Park, Rotherham.

Firefighters believe the bins were both torched.

Household and garden waste were set alight on Wordsworth Avenue, Parson Cross, Sheffield and grass and cuttings were found burning on High Greave, Sheffield Lane Top.

On Doncaster Road, Mexborough, garden waste was set alight in a wooded area and tree branches and cuttings were torched on Armthorpe Road, Wheatley Hills, Doncaster.
