Enquiries are being made by South Yorkshire Police about comments allegedly made by a former officer.

Police received a complaint via twitter regarding an ex South Yorkshire Police officer, James Fletcher.

Mr Fletcher is the Vice Chairman of NARPO, an organisation for retired Police officers.

He responed to the alleged comments on Facebook by saying: “The comment was made many months ago and appears to have been resurrected by someone wanting to stir up trouble.

“Secondly, as I understand it, it would appear that my Facebook account has been “hacked” and that someone has been using it to post further messages regarding Hillsborough purporting to have come from me.

“This is not true and how this has happened is an absolute mystery to me as my knowledge of computers is extremely limited.”
