News In Brief: Office building gutted by blaze

A BLAZE tore through an office in Sheffield, completely gutting the building.

Curitotal’s small building, in a car park on Pye Bank Road, went up in flames in the early hours of Saturday.

Watch manager James Moll, of Central fire station, said: “It is a very small brick building, with a toilet. There wasn’t much left of it when we got there. It was completely gutted.”

Fire officers are investigating how the blaze started.

Bag snatched

A WOMAN’S handbag was snatched in a street robbery as she walked home after a night out.

The 47-year-old was with three friends on Crow Lane in Chesterfield town centre when they were approached by two men who asked for a cigarette.

One of the men then grabbed the woman’s bag and fled. Nobody was hurt. The robber was white, aged 25 to 30, 5ft 7ins tall and wearing dark clothing. Call DC Alex Edwards on 0345 123 3333.

Arson attacks

A MILK float was set on fire in an arson attack on Hemsworth Road, Norton, Sheffield. Firefighters extinguished the blaze.

A Citroen Picasso found burning on Manor Laithe Road, Wybourn, Sheffield, and a Nissan found burning on Thrybergh Lane, Thrybergh, Rotherham, had both been set alight deliberately.

Easy pickings

POLICE officers patrolling the streets of Woodhouse, Sheffield, found 27 vehicles with valuables including sat navs on display.

Motorists are being urged to remove anything of value from their vehicles.
