FIREFIGHTERS were called to the A628 near Salters Brook, Dunford Bridge, Barnsley, after an HGV tractor unit caught fire at 3am yesterday.

A car found burning on a lane near Fordoles farm, Marsh Hill, Rotherham, had been deliberately set alight at 7.05am yesterday.

And police are investigating a suspected arson attack involving a wheelie bin which caused flames to spread to a hedge on Winster Road, Staveley, at 9.40pm on Thursday.

Motorist injured

A MAN was cut free from his car after a two vehicle collision on Rotherham Road, Athersley South, Barnsley. The casualty, in his 40s, was taken to hospital with back injuries. Emergency services were alerted to the crash at 6.15pm on Thursday.
