POLICE stopped 63 people on the streets of Woodhouse and Mosborough in a crackdown on burglaries, metal thefts and car crime following an increase in offences.
Operation Aerial was an attempt to identify offenders and reassure residents crimes are being taken seriously.
High visibility and undercover patrols were carried out by officers on foot, in cars and on bikes. The police helicopter was also used.
The operation led to two Fixed Penalty Notices for drug offences, 15 properties identified as at risk of break-ins, with residents advised to step up their security, 19 motorists being advised to remove valuables on display and lock doors and windows found open and two arrests being were made in connection with the theft of metal from allotments.
