Robbers flee empty-handed after targeting Sheffield Money store

POLICE are hunting two men who burst into a Sheffield shop looking for cash.

The duo struck at The Money Shop, on Hatfield House Lane, Sheffield Lane Top, as an employee was opening up for the day.

She was just placing an advertising board outside when two men pulled up in a car and followed her into the shop.

The startled shop assistant pressed her panic alarm and the robbers fled empty-handed.

Police said nobody was hurt during the incident.

Inspector Simon Leake, of the Burngreave, Firth Park, Southey, Shiregreen and Brightside police teams, said: “Police are investigating an attack on shop staff at The Money Shop, on Hatfield House Lane, Sheffield Lane Top, which occurred on Thursday, at about 9am.

“Two males were involved in the attack which occurred as staff were opening for business.

“The staff members, although shaken up, were not harmed and no property was taken.”
