A Sheffield man who stabbed his friend four times - on the victim’s birthday - has been jailed for seven-and-a-half years.
Nathan Allen, 24, of Eastern Drive, Arbourthorne, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent at Sheffield Crown Court.
He stabbed his friend in the face, back and leg causing severe injuries on Derby Street, Gleadless, on November 27 last year.
The victim was celebrating his 24th birthday with friends, including Allen, at a house on Derby Street on the night of the attack.
The attack happened after the victim intervened in an argument between Allen and his girlfriend. Allen chased the victim on to the street and stabbed him four times, with one of the wounds hitting an artery in the victim’s leg.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Tom Ryan said: “The victim in this case is without doubt lucky to be alive. The use of knives on the streets of South Yorkshire will not be tolerated.”
