SHOPLIFTERS are being warned that police are targeting the most prolific offenders in Rotherham in a bid to drive down crime.
South Yorkshire Police said reducing retail crime was a ‘force priority.’
Officers would be looking for well known offenders at the most popular shoplifting haunts.
Inspector Abdul Aziz said: “If you choose to commit shoplifting, then you can expect the police to respond firmly, as these crimes will not be tolerated.”
Supt Andrew Parker added: “Shop theft hurts us all and it is time to put a stop to this criminal activity.”
