Three men have been arrested on suspicion of possessing firearms following armed raids in Sheffield yesterday.

Police carried out a number of raids across the High Green area on Thursday morning after receiving information about suspected criminal activity.

Three firearms were also recovered from a property on Miles Road including two BB guns and a viable shotgun.

Three men, aged 19, 21 and 32-years-old, were all arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

At another address on School Road in High Green, 40 to 50 cannabis plants with a street value of £40,000 were discovered and seized.

Residents were evacuated from homes as the drama unfolded on Miles Road on Thursday.

The incident involved more than a dozen officers, some of them armed, police dogs, 10 police vehicles, undercover officers, and the force helicopter.
