A caretaker is due to appear at court today in connection with the death of a two-year-old who plunged from the fourth floor of a Sheffield block of flats.

Robert Warner, aged 45, of Shirehall Crescent, Shiregreen, denies a charge of manslaughter by gross negligence after Ryaheen Banismuslem’s death.

A trial began at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday but was adjourned.

Ryaheen was playing in a communal garden at North Bank apartments on Willey Street, off the Wicker in the city centre, when she fell to her death from a walkway in June 2012.

Her family, originally from Iraq, lived in the apartments.
