Police are seeking three men, believed to be from Sheffield, after they threatened a couple and their children with a gun.
They struck at a house on Stubley Lane, Dronfield, on Thursday, March 19.
One of the men kicked the home owner in the head and knocked him unconscious.
He and his wife were tied up and one of the men forced a child to accompany him during a search of the house.
The boy was threatened with the firearm, which was pointed towards him.
The raiders stole cash and jewellery and fled from the scene in a takeaway delivery driver’s car they stole.
Detective Inspector Greg McGill, of Chesterfield CID, said: “This attack involved young children being threatened by an armed gunman in their own home.
“All of the occupants were subjected to a terrifying attack and I am appealing for anybody with information to come forward and speak to us.
“This attack is especially abhorrent given the threats towards the children and the people responsible must be caught.”
The men are described as white with broad Sheffield accents.
They were all in their late 20s to early 30s and were wearing tracksuits with the hoods up and face coverings.
