Incidents of violent crime involving students in Sheffield during Fresher’s week dropped this year compared to last.

Figures released by South Yorkshire Police reveal that across a six week period, starting from Fresher’s week in September, 38 incidents of violent crimes were recorded against students in Sheffield - five fewer than in 2014.

The force warns that students in Sheffield are more likely to become the victims of alcohol-fuelled violence than the rest of the population.
