Police are hunting a sex attacker who grabbed a 21-year-old woman from behind and pulled her to the ground before assaulting her in a Sheffield car park.
The incident happened this morning between 3am and 4am as the woman walked along Backfields, near to Carver Street in the city centre.
An unknown man grabbed her from behind on Backfields and pulled her to the ground into the adjacent car park, close to the junction with Wellington Street.
The woman was sexually assaulted by the man before he is believed to have fled the scene in the direction of Cambridge Street.
He is described as approximately 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins tall, of a slim build with a tanned complexion. He had dark hair and a fringe swept to one side.
He was wearing a navy or dark coloured tracksuit with a zip up at the front on the top and white pockets at the waist. He was wearing the hood of the jacket over his head.
Detective Inspector Kevin Britten said: “The young woman is clearly very distressed and is being supported by specialist officers.
“We believe it may be an isolated incident, however there will be an increased police presence in the centre over the weekend to provide reassurance to the public.
“I would encourage anyone who believes they may have seen any suspicious behaviour or activity in the area, or may have witnessed the attack, to please contact the police.”
