A PILOT scheme is being rolled out in the Bradfield area to give an extra incentive for people to get on their bikes.
Discounts are being offered to people who turn up on cycles at local pubs, cafes and other businesses. They are available to families, teenagers, commuters and pupils who have been through initatives run by the professional cycling training group, Pedal Ready.
Local businesses signed up so far to ‘I Bike Bradfield’ project include the Our Cow Molly dairy, Rhinegold garden centre café in the Loxley Valley, the Postcard café at Low Bradfield, the Robin Hood pub at Stannington and Bradfield farmers market café. Discounts can be 10% off or a free soft drink, for example.
Pupils at Bradfield Dungworth and Loxley primary schools have already received their cards.
The scheme is funded by the Peak District National Park Authority, which wants to promote cycling at a time when it is preparing to open the Monsal Trail between Bakewell and Buxton.
