A what’s on directory for areas of Sheffield has been released in an attempt to help combat loneliness.

The What’s On Where Directory - known as WOW - lists regular activities in Stocksbridge, Deepcar, Oughtibridge, Chapeltown, Ecclesfield, High Green and surrounding area, which are ideal for elderly and/or socially isolated people.

The guide has been released by care company Home Instead Senior Care, and was launched at the Stocksbridge and Upper Don Community Health Forum at Stocksbridge Library.

Kathy Markwick, community development officer at Home Instead Senior Care, said: “Our local communities offer a wide range of socially stimulating activities for elderly/socially isolated people to enjoy, but finding these can be very difficult.

“With the publication of the WOW Directory we are hoping that many people will now brighten up their social calendar, make new friends and be more aware of what is going off in the local community.”
