Doctorate for professor

A FORMER Sheffield Hallam University assistant principal who has gone on to be a champion of older people and lifelong learning is returning to the city to collect an honorary degree.

Professor Dianne Willcocks CBE will collect her honorary doctorate on Monday, November 12 at Sheffield City Hall when the university honours notable figures from the arts, sport and business.

Professor Willcocks, who worked in the leadership team at Sheffield Hallam from 1993 to 1999, is Emeritus Professor at York St John University and vice chairman of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

She was a founder member of Yorkshire’s first Lifelong Learning Network, Higher York, and a member of the HEFCE board for three years.
