SHEFFIELD recruitment consultant Ed Devanney joins the Great North Run on September 16 in memory of an uncle who lost his life to bone cancer.
Inspired by the nursing care for Richard Devanney, the 31-year-old is raising funds for Myeloma UK and raising awareness with runs around the country.
Richard died last year at the age of 47, leaving four children.
“Richard went through chemotherapy, radiotherapy and stem cell treatment,” said Ed. “Each time there was hope and he was in remission, the cancer came back stronger and the whole process started again.”
His employer, TEK Personnel, has donated £200. Visit www.justgiving.com/edward-devanney2012.
