Sheffield University is receiving a share of £350 million to train more engineers and scientists.

The money will be used to recruit PhD students to work as specialists in areas targeted by Government ministers as vital for the UK’s economic growth.

Students will work closely with industrial firms on four-year programmes designed to develop their professional skills and experience. Sheffield will be home to two new training centres recruiting 32 PhD students every year.
