A mum has called for a permanent crossing warden to be employed outside a Sheffield school after a pupil was hit by a car.
The little girl was not injured in the collision outside Hatfield Primary on Hatfield House Lane, Firth Park, at 8.45am yesterday.
But worried mum Diana Turner, who has a daughter at the school, said a permanent crossing warden left last summer and the last temporary one in December.
Diana said: “We keep getting texts from the school saying be careful because there is no lollipop lady on duty – even the last one got run over herself just before Christmas.
“The road is very busy in the morning, and it is crossed by a lot of children.”
Sheffield Council said it was ‘very much aware’ of the need for a crossing patrol near the school.
The post is still being advertised and the council would welcome job sharers.
