Sheffield High School student Clare Rees-Zimmerman is preparing for Cambridge University with a crop of eight A* grades and one A at A-level.

Clare, aged 18, of Dore, collected five A* grades in the latest round to add to her previous achievements. She also has 13 A* GCSES and is described as an ‘outstanding’ musician, playing the piano, violin and viola. She is leader of the City of Sheffield Senior Schools Orchestra.

“I wasn’t quite expecting to do as well as I did,” she said. “It will probably take a while to sink in.”

Her eight A* subjects are biology, chemistry, physics, Russian, maths, further maths, additional further maths and music – with a grade A in French.
Headteacher Val Dunsford said: “She has certainly broken all the school records.”

Clare will study chemical engineering and natural sciences at Cambridge from October.
