A £15,000 library has opened at Nether Edge Primary School.

Pupils and parents raised about £2,500 and the council gave £900 towards the unit, which has around 1,000 titles, an iPad ‘exploration station’ and an ‘imagine zone’.

Headteacher Michele Nott said: “Some primary schools do have libraries but it is unusual to have a big brand new one. It is great news when other libraries have closed. A lot of our pupils and parents used the mobile library that came into the area, because it was so handy, but now they will be able to use this one.”
