Members of the Sherwood Forresters Longbow Archery club released a volley of arrows to pay their respects to former-member Malcolm Cottam, the cyclist who was recenlty killed in a road accident

Sherwood Forresters Longbow Club fired a volley of arrows in tribute to former City School teacher Malcolm Cottam, one of the organisation’s founders, who died after his cycle was hit by a car on the Dronfield bypass.

Police were unable to identify Mr Cottam, aged 55, of Norton Park Crescent, for a week after July 31 because he had no identification.

He was remembered at the club’s meeting at Barlborough Hall School. Spokesman Peter Burgess said: “Malcolm’s skills, hard work and sharp sense of humour helped the club grow.”

Mr Cottam’s funeral is Barnsley Crematorium tomorrow (Fri) at 2pm.
