Sheffield Heeley MP Meg Munn visited talented young food engineers to discuss their experiences and discover how to encourage more youngsters into apprenticeships.

The MP met apprentices at Mondelēz International’s site in Owlerton, Sheffield, the home of big brands such as BelVita, Oreo and Bassett’s to see the latest investment in biscuit manufacturing.

Her visit marked national apprenticeship week – which runs until Friday – which celebrates apprenticeships and the impact they have on individuals, businesses and the economy.

Mrs Munn said the food and drink sector is a key employer and a vital part of the national economy.

“It was great to meet the young people working at Mondelēz International’s factory in Sheffield and hear about their experiences,” she said.

“It is good to see companies like Mondelēz International investing in their people and encouraging young talent into engineering.”

Mondelēz is offering young people the chance of a career in food manufacturing by applying for its apprenticeship scheme.
