There will be a number of drop-off points along the way including Brocco Bank, Endcliffe Vale Road, CrookTTes Road and Walkley Lane.

The service will pick up outside the Students’ Union at 2.35am and 3.35am and normal fares will apply with tickets at £1.

Single and weekly/term tickets already purchased will also be valid.

The scheme was proposed to Sheffield City Council and First buses by Students’ Union president Dom Trendall, with the aim of providing a safe, cheap, and easy way for students to get home after a night out.

Dom said: “This is another example of how the Studemts’ Union stands up for students and can have a real and tangible impact on their lives.

“Our proposal for a night bus was based on feedback from students, with a route that works for as many students as possible and with student safety in mind.

“Our lobbying around bus fares, routes and safety issues will mean that students now have another cheap and safe way to get home after a night out, and we hope to expand this further in the future”.

A survey was sent to students who regularly attend Students’ Union club nights, asking them for thoughts on a potential late night bus service, with 500 responding with information on drop-of points, the nights they go out and what times they head home.

All of this information was included in the Studsents’ Union’s proposal to First Buses and the City Council.
