Firvale schoolchildren have done their bit for the environment by planting some young trees at a local sheltered scheme

A group of Sheffield pupils had a tree-mendous time sprucing up the environment around a sheltered housing scheme.

The youngsters from Fir Vale School had their spades ready to plant a variety of fruit trees including raspberry, gooseberry and blackcurrant at Crabtree Grange.

The scheme’s grounds have recently benefited from a makeover and now proudly boast colourful planters around the garden, which the tenants are looking forward to enjoying in the warmer weather.
