A SHEFFIELD primary school is aiming to build a hall that will allow it to expand its sports programme.
Already St Wilfrid’s RC Primary in Millhouses Lane has council permission for an extension to its existing hall.
“However, after investigating this option further, it has been decided that the best and most cost efficient option ... is a new school hall building,” say Sheffield architects Spacestudio.
The proposed development at the Hastings Road end of the site will allow the school to develop it sports facilities and allow pupils to experience new activities such as indoor netball, badminton and volleyball.
The ceiling of the existing hall is too low for most sports, but it will continue to be used for dinners, assemblies and exams.
The new building is due to go on a hardstanding area, which is currently an “eyesore”, and there will be no impact on the school field, woodland or neighbours, the council is being told.
