Schools’ tonne of turkey

More than a tonne of turkey and two tonnes of vegetables are to be served as Christmas dinners in Sheffield primary schools.

Education catering specialist Taylor Shaw expects to provide more than 16,000 Christmas meals during the last school week, which would be a record.

It currently serves 14,000 meals a day and says: “We are confident that the number of pupils enjoying school meals will continue to rise in 2014.”
