Union members at Sheffield College are voting on strike action in a row over job losses.
The University and College Union has been told that 75 jobs are under threat across a range of departments and the college is looking to cut back on staff costs by a further £3.7 million to build up reserves which would protect its future.
The union wants to halt any plans and negotiation a fair deal for staff.
Julie Kelley, UCU regional official, said the announcement of job cuts are a ‘bitter blow’ for staff.
She added: “Staff are determined to protect quality, jobs and their conditions of service and feel they now have no option but to consider strike action.”
The ballot closes on Thursday, January 8.
