Sammy Cobbold, Nuta White, Isaac Sorefan, Joe Carey, Sam Graham and Ed Dawson were also notable performers.

The Year 12 team matched their own achievement of last year by reaching the quarter finals, only to be narrowly defeated by Allerton High School from Leeds.

The match was held at Silverdale, and Allerton managed to edge a very close game, with the score finishing 77-68 to Allerton at the end of the final quarter.

Sam Van Oostrum was the star performer on the day with 20 points.

Fellow students Jacob Cauthorn, Adam Moore, Guido Terruzzi, Sol Hagan, Jacob Wright and Malakki Lynch were also standout players.

Mark Clayton, subject leader for PE at Silverdale, said: “Both teams were truly disappointed to be defeated at such a late stage in a national competition.

“But with one team making the final eight and another team making the final four schools in the country, it is clear to see basketball is flying at Silverdale.”
