Assistant head at Sheffield High School, Kathryn Boulton-Pratt, has won a national award for helping to guide young women towards careers in science and engineering.

The Women in Science and Engineering Advisor award was presented by the Princess Royal at the Science Museum, London.

Sponsored by the Institution of Civil Engineers, the prize recognises Kathryn’s efforts to help girls achieve their potential in traditionally male-dominated subjects.

Her success in encouraging girls to take A-level science was described as remarkable.
