A Sheffield teacher has won a prestigious national award for his impact on improving science standards in the classroom.
Ian McDaid from Handsworth Grange Community Sports College was named Secondary Science Leader 2014 at the Enthuse Celebration Awards held at the Houses of Parliament.
Judges said Ian’s work had helped move his school out of special measures to the status of ‘good’ in a very short time.
Handsworth is now one of the 100 most improved schools in the country.
Ian’s work also promoted science across the region.
