Bus stop protesters secure a rethink

TRANSPORT managers have agreed to review the city centre locations of bus stops on the 120 route after receiving a petition from more than 1,600 passengers.

Objectors want a bus stop in the interchange near the railway station instead of having to walk to an uncovered spot in Pond Street. They are unhappy that the stop in Church Street, opposite the Cathedral, has moved to High Street, which they say is less suitable for elderly and disabled people.

After the petition was handed to the council, cabinet member for transport, Coun Leigh Bramall raised the issue with South Yorkshire Integrated Transport Authority, which has asked for a report.
