Holiday homes can be retained

A BUSINESSMAN is being allowed to go ahead with plans to alter rather than bulldoze holiday cottages which were built a foot too tall.

Sheffield Council’s west and north planning board is allowing Eric Lidster, who runs a plant and machinery hire business in Barnsley, to make changes to four homes he is building on Pheasant Lane, Ewden, in place of wooden houses.

The properties will be changed into bungalows - with three ‘remodelled’ and the fourth rebuilt.

The planning board refused permission for detached homes on garden land off Wortley Road, High Green, after concerns about insufficient on-site parking spaces. But plans for a wind turbine 25m high at Avis Royd Farm, Hunshelf Road, Stocksbridge, were approved.
