Meeting about plans for pit tip

PEOPLE living near a former South Yorkshire pit tip have been invited to a meeting to hear about plans for reclaiming coal deposits from the tip and restoring the site for recreational use.

The meeting about the former Thorpe Hesley Colliery tip, off Cowley Lane, Chapeltown, will be held at Hesley Wood scout centre on Thursday, July 19.

Ecclesfield Parish Council has been told the removal of coal deposits from the tip will take five years and the restoration of the site will take another five years.
