SOUTH Yorkshire Police have donated ten bikes to encourage a culture of cycling among young people from ethnic minorities in Sheffield.

Maxwell Ayamba, project manager of the Sheffield Black and Ethnic Minority Environmental Network, said the organisation has already received funding to take young people cycling at Ladybower Dam.

The new initiative would help to provide free bikes to promote health and wellbeing and to educate young people about sustainable transport.

Sheffield District Commander Chief Supt Simon Torr said it was an interesting and important project.
