PROPOSED waiting restrictions on part of Stannington Road look like being shelved because predicted levels of extra traffic linked to the opening of Forge Valley Community School have not materialised.
Residents near the junction with Malin Road were concerned about the loss of parking and petitioned the council to think again.
Highways officers expected numbers of vehicles on Stannington Road to increase with the opening of the new Myers Grove campus but traffic counts have indicated that they have remained “stable”.
So councillors will be advised next Thursday not to introduce the waiting restrictions “at this time”.
Officers say many children from the Wisewood area are walking to school and a new bus service from Wisewood and Wadsley has proved successful.
