TRADERS on the Wicker have persuaded councillors to take another look at the road’s bus gate that they say is hitting their business.
They want the 24-hour restrictions that were introduced four years ago relaxed so general traffic can use the Wicker outisde peak hours. Councillors are to visit the Wicker to see for themselves.
Takeaway owner Waheed Nazir said: “We understand the bus gate is needed during the day but we want it relaxed in the evening and overnight, when there are fewer buses and our customers come by car.”
Highways officers want to keep the current restrictions and say that no businesses have closed.
