Walk shows off meadows

ONE of the Peak District’s biggest employers joined with the National Park Authority to help draw attention to its work to halt the decline in biodiversity-rich hay meadow habitats.

Lafarge, which runs Hope Cement Works, has worked with the Peak Park’s Rebekah Newman, to host a public walk around the boundary of its plant and through the Bradwell hay meadows, which are home to an array of wild flowers, birds and insects.

The walk highlighted an area known as South Lee, which the company has protected and enhanced – and is set to be designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
