WORK is about to begin on a £77 million new facility to process household waste from Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster.
The centre, to be run by 3SE, a consortium of Shanks Group plc and Scottish and Southern Energy, is being built on Bolton Road, Manvers, and construction is due to start on Monday, September 10.
During the work, which will last for six months, a 700 metre stretch of public bridleway next to the site will be closed while a new bridge is built.
The closure is necessary for safety reasons because there will be heavy goods vehicles on the bridleway.
Alternative routes for pedestrians and horse riders will be via Bolton Road and Houndhill Road.
