AS far as St Luke’s Hospice is concerned, there are fairies at the bottom of the garden.

They are members of Dore Gilbert and Sullivan Society who dodged the heavy machinery and the building work in the hospice grounds to promote their latest show, Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe.

Collections for the hospice will be held at the end of every performance at the Montgomery Theatre in Surrey Street from April 10 to 13. Half the ticket proceeds from the Saturday evening show will also go to St Luke’s.

Money will go to a £5m appeal to create a new hospice in-patient unit, which is scheduled for completed by October.

Society marketing manager Liz Allen said: “We know how many people throughout Sheffield benefit every year from the hospice’s care and support.”

The fairies in the frame are Alison Chapman, Hannah Kingsley, Carolyn Bean and Pauline Hepkin.
