Oh I do like to be beside the seaside...
It’s a long drive from Sheffield to the nearest beach – so the seaside has come to Sheffield again.
The Peace Gardens has been transformed into a seaside resort for the school summer holidays.
And even rain didn’t seem to dampen people’s spirits as Sheffield By The Seaside scored a hit with families who braved the wet weather.
The returning event boasts a whole host of attractions to keep the children smiling.
Youngsters can enjoy a DJ, a sandpit, a helter skelter slide plus all the traditional seaside games and food stalls.
Wendy Mcmillan, aged 26, was enjoying the fun with her daughter.
She said: “It’s good for the kids.
“They can go in the sand and it’s quite a nice change for them.”
Linda Proctor, owner of the Cafe Cart, a mobile coffee unit at the event, said: “It’s such an absolutely brilliant event for Sheffield.
“People who’ve come from far and wide say it’s really good and when the weathers nice what more could you ask for?
“You’ve got the sand, you’ve got the water.”
She added: “It’s just a shame about the weather but people are still here.”
Sheffield by The Seaside will run till August 30 at the Peace Gardens, Sheffield.
