Firefighters called to series of arson attacks in city

Firefighters have dealt with a series of arson attacks across Sheffield.

A crew extinguished a small fire in woodland off Bramley Avenue, in Handsworth at 7.10pm yesterday.

A few hours later firefighters from Low Edges station were called to a car fire in Beauchief. The Peugeot was found well alight in Beauchief Drive at 10.50pm.

Arsonists also targeted a wheelie bin in Collinson Road, Parson Cross. A crew from Elm Lane station were called just after 4am this morning.

Meanwhile, firefighters were called to a chimney fire on Black Lane, Tankesley, Rotherham at 10.50pm yesterday.

They had to pump water down the chimney to extinguish the flames. The cause was accidental.
