ANTI-CUTS protesters held a street party outside Nick Clegg’s Sheffield office - at the same time as a group also held a similar event at the Deputy Prime Minister’s London home.

The Sheffield event, outside the Lib Dem MP for Sheffield Hallam’s base in Nether Green, was organised by the Sheffield branch of UK Uncut.

David Kirkham, from Nether Edge, a member of the group, which opposes the Government’s austerity measures, said: “It was all good natured and we were there for about four hours.

“There were about 50 people there and we had a good time. The police were helpful and there were no arrests.”

Food was laid out on tables and there was even a stiltwalker.

About 400 people attended the event outside Mr Clegg’s home in Putney, south west London, where there were speeches and comedy acts.
