Are you a cook?
Yes – but I enjoy cooking hearty, wholesome food rather than fancy stuff.
Any cooking tips?
I love my Aga – perfect results every time!
What’s your favourite dish?
I’ve got two – a good, fresh seafood pasta, with lots of garlic and a hint of chilli, and Uncle Sam’s cheese sauce – the perfect comfort food! One of my best friends owns Uncle Sam’s on Ecclesall Road and she still won’t spill the beans on the recipe!
And a drink to go with it?
A nice chilled glass of white wine. I don’t really associate food with alcohol as I usually prefer pre-dinner drinks. My husband Michael loves his red wine though and a friend of ours produces an amazing Portuguese red called Pedra Basta – one to try!
Your favourite restaurant in Sheffield area?
Nonna’s in Ecclesall Road – it always has a great atmosphere, fantastic cocktails and delicious food. I have had so many good nights with friends there.
Rowleys in Baslow is another favourite – it’s a two-minute walk from our house and has lovely food and great service.
And pub?
I’m not really a pub person but the Devonshire Arms in Pilsley is very good.
What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?
Countless aeroplane meals.
And the best?
Our whole family loves Japanese food and the best we’ve ever had was in Knightsbridge in London at a restaurant called Zuma.
Your favourite TV cook?
Jamie Oliver
What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?
We have had some really good meals in Sheffield and have a couple of friends who own restaurants in the city. All our close friends and family live in and around the area, so I think part of the attraction of eating out in Sheffield is that we can all be together.
