THE Botanical Gardens will host four nights of concerts next month.
It has become a firm fixture in Sheffield’s entertainment calendar, with local Rotary Clubs organising the event and raising money for local charities.
Music in the Gardens starts this year with a Big Band Night featuring the Keith Peters Big Band on Wednesday, July 4.
It continues with the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain on Thursday, 10cc on the Friday and a classical concert with the Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra on the Saturday.
Proceeds will go on each night to specific charities – the young person’s charity Safe@Last (Wednesday), Sheffield Young Carer, Barnado’s Rotherham Young Carers (Thursday), Breast Cancer Care (Friday) and Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind (Saturday).
Local Rotary Clubs raised £57,000 for charities last year, thanks to sell-out evenings for Sheffield-born musician and writer Paul Carrack and jazz saxophonist Courtney Pine in the 3,500-capacity grounds.
